KING'S COLLEGE GOLF CLUB

King’s College is privileged to have an arrangement with the Auckland Golf Club that allows students to use the Middlemore course subject to certain conditions. The course is situated adjacent to the College grounds, and is one of New Zealand's premier links.
The fee for Playing Rights in 2011 has been set by the AGC at $244.00, and this covers the period from February 2nd to December 8th. Playing Rights entitle a student to use the course after school, but not on weekends or public holidays, or during school holidays. AGC rules stipulate that ladies may not play on Wednesdays, and this rule also applies to girls with Playing Rights.

There are other rules regarding dress and etiquette that will be strictly enforced. Any breach of the rules may result in suspension of Playing Rights at the discretion of the AGC or the Master‐in‐Charge of Golf. No refunds will be considered under these or any other circumstances.

Numbers will be limited and applications may be declined without any reasons being given.

There are 3 categories of KCGC membership:
A. Senior Golf Squad (up to 6 members)
The Senior Squad will be made up of the top golfers in the school. Squad members will represent the College in inter‐school competitions, and are expected to play and compete regularly in College and Club competitions. They will be expected to practise twice a week in their own time, but must be prepared to practise or play when requested, and must attend trials and matches as required.
Members of the Squad must be members of the AGC or have AGC Playing Rights.

B. Junior Golf Squad (up to 8 members)

The Junior Squad will be made up of promising Year 9, 10, and 11 golfers. The squad will train twice a week in Terms 1 and 4 with Mr. Bridges and Mr. Moynihan (the Club Pro at the AGC). Squad members should belong to an affiliated golf club, and will be expected to play at their club each weekend if possible. A fee of $30 to $50 will be charged to help cover the cost of the lessons. Members of the Squad must be members of the AGC or have AGC Playing Rights.

C. Casual Members (up to 30 members)
Students who wish to play casually can apply to Mr Bridges for AGC Playing Rights.

  • If you wish to join one of the Golf Squads, you must see Mr Bridges as soon as possible.
  • If you wish to apply for Playing Rights the procedure is as follows:

1. See Mr. Bridges to pick up an application form.
2. Complete the application form and attach a cheque for $244.
3. Take your completed application form back to Mr. Bridges.

You will be told within a week whether or not your application
has been successful.
