Some groups e.g. Concert Band, Big Band (excluding rhythm section) and Chapel Choir have no auditions. You can simply sign-up and then turn up to the first rehearsal. Other groups e.g. Little Big Band, Orchestra (excluding strings), Glee Club and King’s Voices are auditioned. Instrumentalists should bring along a short piece to perform at your audition. You can also expect some sight-reading and ear tests.  See below for further details.

Wind, brass & percussion auditions take place from 7.30 – 8.30am on Thursday 2 February. String players do not need to audition but should be at least grade 4 standard & are asked to sign up at Cultural Showcase.

Concert Band
Open to any brass & wind players. Percussion by invitation. Performs at KBB Music Festival and Music Showcase. Singapore tour planned for June 2012.

No audition required, just sign-up for this group at Cultural Showcase.

Big Band
Open to any saxophonists, trumpeters & trombonists. Auditions for jazz vocalists & rhythm section players (i.e. piano, guitar, bass and drums).
Performs at KBB Music Festival and Music Showcase. Singapore tour planned for June 2012.  
Wednesdays: 7.30 - 8.40am, Terms 1 – 3

Little Big Band
This is by audition only. Saxophonists, trumpeters, trombonists, rhythm section players & jazz vocalists all welcome to audition. Performs at KBB Music Festival and Music Showcase. Singapore tour planned for June 2012.

Chapel Choir
All welcome to join. Just be able to sing in tune! Reading of music is desirable but not essential. Chapel Choir sings at various services, Music Showcase and at Big Sing. UK tour planned for 2013.

No auditions. First performance of 2012 is for opening of Chapel Close at 10am Thursday 2 Feb (!), so rehearsals start as follows:

King’s Voices
An auditioned chamber choir. Members should be having regular singing lessons. See Head of Music if you need assistance. Big Sing finalists in 2011 (Silver award)

Auditions on Friday 3 February 3.30 – 5pm.

Chamber Groups
Various groups depending on interest. Possibilities include brass, saxophone, strings (with piano) & woodwind. Groups may enter Chamber Music Competition.

Jazz & Rock Bands
Various groups depending on interest. History of Rock (open air concert) in term 4 is the major event.

Bagpipe group with percussionists. Performs at Music Showcase.

Percussionists needed! Performs at Music Showcase & Chamber Music Competition.

Glee Club
Musical requiring chorus, leads & actors. Production for 2012 is Chicago.
Fri 3.30 – 6pm; Sun 10am – 4pm, Term 1
Auditions from 3.30 – 5.30pm on Thurs 2 Feb. Recall auditions 3.30 – 5.30pm on Fri 3 Feb No need to prepare anything, just come along to the Great Hall.
