Cricket
Once again King's First XI has dominated all secondary schools cricket and are unbeaten this season. This week supremacy culminated in the retaining of the Gillette Cup, the trophy for winning the national tournament. The week started with a low scoring game against Hutt International school where batting first King’s scored a modest total of 161 but were able to restrict Hutt to 127 for 9. In the second game batting first King’s scored 282 for 7 with Christ's College all out for 162 and a win to King’s by 120 runs. On Sunday in the 3rd game Tauranga Boys College were all out for 138 and King’s replied with 141 for the loss of 1 wicket. On Monday King's set Otago Boys a mammoth total to chase of 318 with Simon Hickey scoring 136 and Michael Haddleton 101. The run chase proved to much for Otago who only managed 253 with Michael Haddleton completing an excellent all round game by taking 4 wickets and Ben Horne taking 2 wickets off 10 overs and only conceding 20 runs. The Tuesday game was not played due to rain and as a result the King’s team leading the competition were declared winners for a 2nd year.
Rowing
The King’s College rowers dominated the weekends rowing at Mercer in choppy windy conditions with 12 crews winning races, eight crews placed 2nd and one crew placed 3rd.
