This year, Senior Drama is doing a collection of plays under the title, ‘Pinter Time’. This will involve three different plays being performed by three separate casts, but all are written by the highly praised British playwright, Harold Pinter. The plays that have been chosen are slightly left field for a school production, but they have been hand-picked to showcase the very best drama skills in the school and to fully engage the audience.
On Monday night, ‘A Birthday Party’ will be performed, a rather shady play about how one man’s birthday party turns into a nightmare with the arrival of two sinister gentlemen. There were many raving reviews of this play from Sunday night’s performance, with many people wanting to return to watch it a second time on Monday evening.
Then on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights, there will first be the play ‘Party Time, which is quite a short play about a high-class party, but one which leaves a significant mark on audience’s thoughts and feelings. This will be immediately be followed by ‘Old Times’, a seemingly simple play involving three people, but one with deep and meaningful themes and messages which develop through the plot and characterisation.
