Three from King’s to Represent New Zealand at Water Polo Championships

Ben Goodwin and two Old Collegians, Johnny Reid and Callum Lane, have been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2015 Australian Under 20 State Water Polo Championships in May.

Johnny was captain of the King’s Premier team in 2013.  Now at the University of Melbourne he is playing water polo for both the University of Melbourne and Richmond Club in Victoria.

Callum Lane, centre forward, was also a team captain at King’s and has represented New Zealand on a number of occasions.

Eelco Uri, Operations Director at New Zealand Water Polo, said the King’s boys’ selection was a fantastic step towards the senior team, the goal of winning a medal at the 2018 Commonwealth championships and potentially even the 2016 Olympics.

Water Polo is one of the most popular summer sports at King's. The College runs teams in both the Junior and the Senior Divisions and plays in the Auckland competition each week.
