Memories Shared at Official Opening of New Taylor

The official opening of the new Taylor House was held on Sunday, 24 May.

Its new location, up the drive beside the heart of King’s, the Chapel, is one of the aspects the girls are loving due to its central nature and convenience.

New Taylor has been developed from the former Headmaster’s residence to become a fantastic home for the day girls of King’s. The opening evening was very professionally conducted with an official blessing from the Bishop Reverend Ross Bay.

John Taylor, a previous Headmaster of the College and who Taylor is named after, spoke about the history the House held, as well as welcoming all the guests. This was followed by speeches by current Headmaster Michael Leach and Taylor Housemaster Gina Adams.

To top off the celebrations, two beautiful cakes were made by Year 12 student Amelia Ferrier and Head of Taylor House Sophie Nathan made the first cut.

Although the weather was miserable, the rain did not dampen spirits and refreshments flowed as current, past and future Taylor students and family members enjoyed looking around the new House.

Overall the night was an event that brought Taylor House together, as well as distinguished guests such as the Chairman of the Board of Governors Ross Green, members of the Senior Leadership Team, friends and former staff. It was very special to have former Heads of Houses and teachers present, to talk with current and future King’s members about the memories they have during their years at King's.

The girls are very excited about the year to come and the future of the House with its amazing new premises.
