Mighty River Power Regatta

This weekend King’s rowers raced at the Mighty River Power Junior Regatta. As this is the last regatta before the North Island Championships, it is seen as a good form-guide for medal prospects.

As they had done at the Head of Harbour Regatta, the rowers acquitted themselves superbly, producing some outstanding results.  The highlights would have to be:

  • 1st in the A Final of the Boys' Under-16 Quad</>
  • 1st and 2nd in the A Final of the Boys' Under-15 Quad
  • 1st in the A Final of the Boys' Under-18 Double
  • 1st in the A Final of the Boys' Under-15 Octuple
  • 2nd in the A Final of the Boys' Under-I8 Quad
  • 5th in the A Final of the Boys' Undert-15 Double
  • 5th in the A Final of the Boys' Under-16 Eight
  • 5th in the A Final of the Boys' Under-17 Quad
  • 6th in the A Final of the Boys' Under-18 Lightweight Double
  • 1st in the B Final of the Boys' Under-17 Quad
  • 2nd in the B Final of the Girls' Under-17 Single
  • 3rd in the B Final of the Girls' Under-18 Quad
  • 3rd in the B Final of the Boys' Under-18 Double
  • 3rd in the B Final of the Boys' Under-18 Lightweight Double

(N.B. where an event is mentioned twice, it means we had more than one crew entered.)

There are now only two weeks until the North Island Championships (6-8 March), followed two weeks later by The Maadi Cup (23-29 March).  There is still plenty left to do in order to ensure we are able to perform at our best, but I am certain all of the rowers are up for the challenge.
