Careers Centre Director

The Careers Director, Wendy Carey, has a broad career background, firstly, as an English teacher, and then as a solicitor. Drawing on her teaching and legal experience, and her on-going keen interest in Career Development, as well as her time as a mother of three daughters, all of whom are now pursuing their careers, Wendy is able to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work at King's.

Wendy completed the post-grad Cert of Career Development from E.C.U. in Perth and is a professional member of the Career Practitioners Association of New Zealand - CPANZ 1, the Australian Association of Career Counsellors CDAA2 as well as the 'Career Planning and Adult Development Network USA' 

Maintaining collaborative networks and strong relationships with the tertiary institutions, is a very important aspect of Wendy's role, as well as frequently attending professional development workshops, seminars and conferences, to keep up-to-date with the ever-changing world of work and careers.

She has a special interest in career development theory and practice and endeavours to offer the best in career assessment and guidance for senior students, using a range of resources including the New Zealand Career Dynamic and the Australian Career Solutions programmes, as well as the U.S. Strong Interest Inventory.

Tracey Butchers, BA, DipBusMgmt

Careers Centre Administrator

Tracey has been with King’s for the last 18 months, working over a number of departments before electing to specialise in Careers. 

She is passionate about the importance of good Career Management as students transition to life beyond school, and is currently studying towards a Postgrad Certificate in Career Management. 

With two children approaching the end of their university degrees, Tracey has a breadth of experience in supporting and encouraging students’ transition to tertiary study.
