Ross Green, MBA, BCom
Ross is an Old Collegian (Selwyn) and past parent. He is married to Josephine and they have two children, Caroline and Billy who was Deputy Head Boy at King's College in 2007.
His business career has primarily been in property in Auckland where he is best known as the founder and joint CEO of Kiwi Income Property Trust, which grew to become New Zealand's largest listed property investment vehicle. In recent years, Ross has continued his interest in property in a private capacity.
Outside of business, Ross has served on the boards of St Cuthbert's College, the Spirit of Adventure Trust and the Maritime Museum, and is currently on the board of the Home and Family Trust, the Auckland Theatre Company as well as being Chairman of the Waterfront Theatre Trust and Chairman of the Ranfurly Care Society.
The Right Reverend Ross Bay, BTh, PGDipTheol
Bishop of Auckland
Bishop Ross Bay joined the Board in 2007 while serving as Dean of Auckland.
He was ordained and installed as Bishop of Auckland on 17 April 2010. Ross was raised in Auckland and grew up attending local schools in Papatoetoe. He worked for the Bank of New Zealand until beginning study and training for ordination. The Anglican Church has been his spiritual home since his teenage years, and most of his ministry has been in the Auckland Diocese.
He was Vicar of the parishes of Ellerslie and St Mark’s Remuera, before becoming Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral.
He holds a Bachelor of Theology from the Australian College of Theology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Theology from London University. Ross is married to Jacquie, who is Director of the Liggins Education Network for Science at The University of Auckland. Prior to that she was Head of the Science Department at Diocesan School for Girls.
For relaxation Ross plays squash and is an occasional tramper.
Roween Higgie, MEdMgmt (Hons), Dip Tchr Ed, Dip Tchg, TTCert
Director and Educational Consultant - The Education Group Ltd
Roween Higgie has a strong background in teaching and school leadership and has been a Director of The Education Group since 2009. Prior to that, she was the Principal at Remuera and Bayfield Primary Schools.
As a recent leader she has experience and expertise in all areas of school governance, leadership and management and works in a wide range of capacities in education throughout New Zealand. She is also an accredited Educational Coach. She was awarded the ASB/APPA Travelling Fellowship and during this time focused on Teacher Professional Learning and Development, and as an extension of this attended a course at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Roween is married to Gavin and has three adult children, two of whom attended King’s College.
Scott Johnson, MBA, BCom
CEO International - Frucor Beverages
Scott Johnson is an Old Collegian (St John's) and has a son in Year 9. At King's, Scott was Head Prefect in 1984 and a member of the First XV rugby team in 1983-1984. He was also involved in First VIII rowing, senior athletics, senior orienteering, and choir.
His previous roles include being General Manager of Frucor Brands International, Danone Sales and Logistics Director of Frucor Beverages Ltd and GM Sales and Distribution of Mainland Products. Before joining Mainland, Scott was with MeadowLea Foods, Heinz Wattie's and New Zealand Dairy. He began his career with IBM New Zealand.
Lachie Johnstone, BCom, MInstD
Company Director - Farmlands Co-operative Society Ltd.
Current parent, Lachie Johnstone was educated at Southwell School, Wanganui Collegiate School and the University of Auckland.
Lachie was a Director of the rural retail co-operative, Farmlands Trading Society (FTS), from 2000-2013 and Chairman from 2003-2013. FTS merged with South Island based Combined Rural Traders (CRT) Ltd in 2014 to form NZ’s largest rural retail co-operative, Farmlands Co-operative Society Ltd. Lachie is currently Chairman of this new entity. He is a Director of subsidiary, Farmlands Fuel Ltd and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
Lachie is married to Martha and they have two sons.
Richard Kidd, BAgrSc
Richard Kidd is an Old Collegian (Peart) who was Head of House and Deputy Head of the College in his final year.
Richard has lived and farmed at Helensville for 30 years. He and his wife, Dianne have three sons, all of whom boarded in School House.
Richard is passionate about King's College maintaining its position as a leading secondary school in New Zealand and as such, he is keen to give his time, primarily to assist the Foundation in growing its Endowment Fund to support the College with scholarships and other funding.
Greg Lowe, MEng, BE (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
Group CEO - Beca
Greg Lowe is the parent of two boarders and his commercial experience includes being Managing Director of Beca Pty Ltd, Wellington Regional Manager of Beca NZ, GM Performance Solutions of Infinity Solutions and CEO of RDT Pacific.
Earlier in his career, Greg held senior posts in the Royal New Zealand Navy. As a Navy Commander and Director of Marine Engineering, Greg led a number of strategic change projects.
Greg was made an Officer NZ Order of Merit in 1998 and is a Fellow of (IPENZ).
Vanessa Stoddart, BCom/LLB (Hons), PGDip Professional Ethics, GAICP, MZNICD
Vanessa Stoddart is currently an Independent Director for NZ Refinery, Heartland Bank, The Warehouse Group and Alliance Group, and is a member of the Tertiary Education Commission and the Financial Markets Authority.
For approximately ten years, Vanessa was Group General Manager of Technical Operations and People at Air New Zealand, and was a key driver of the cultural transformation at the airline.
Vanessa is a member of both the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Directors, an honorary fellow of HRINZ and a Companion of IPENZ. She is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committees for DOC and MBIE, a member of the Defence Employer Support Council and Deputy Chair of the Global Women Board.
David McConnell, MBA, BE (Hons),

David McConnell is an Old Collegian (School) and current parent at King’s College. David and his wife, Sonia have three children - Jake, Maddison, and Jamie. Jake is an Old Collegian, Maddison a current student, and Jamie is currently attending St Cuthbert’s.
With a background in business development - specialising in property, construction and infrastructure - David has been a key influence in the direction and leadership of the McConnell Family’s business activities.
David is also Chairman of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), a council controlled organisation with Auckland Council; and Chairman of the University of Auckland Business School Advisory Board.
In 2006 David received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award and in 2008, a prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship.
David has a BE in Engineering (Hons) and an MBA from Kellogg Business School, Northwestern University in Chicago.
Shan Wilson, BA/LLB (Hons), Partner - Simpson Grierson
Shan Wilson is an Old Collegian (Middlemore) and current parent at King’s College.
Shan works as a Partner for Simpson Grierson specialising in Employment Law, Health & Safety Law and Education Law. Previously, she worked at Allen & Overy in London.
Shan has been an advisor on employment and education law issues to a number of schools in both the state school and independent school sectors. She has also worked with the Independent Schools of NZ Association (ISNZ) on occasion, presenting seminars and advising on legal matters and policies for ISNZ.
Shan has a Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Law (Hons) conjoint degree from the University of Auckland. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Te Matauranga School - a decile one school in South Auckland.
John McKay, MBA, BCom, CEO - AsureQuality Ltd
John McKay is an Old Collegian (Parnell) who was Head Prefect in his final year. He and his wife, Krista have three sons, two of whom currently attend King’s School.
John has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury and an MBA from the London Business School.
He is an experienced business executive having worked in an array of roles, both in New Zealand and internationally. John is currently the CEO of AsureQuality Ltd, a State-Owned Enterprise that provides food safety and biosecurity services to the food and primary production sectors. He is also an active investor in NZ dairy farming and Chairman of Waitonui Holdings Ltd, a company with three dairy farms in North Otago.
John is a rugby enthusiast, coaching College Rifles Junior and Touch Rugby.
